a gift and a promise

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6

The gift is wisdom. The promise is Who we will meet there.

Seeking wisdom- true wisdom, that is- means that we will find God because He is wisdom. He is the source and the upholder. The beginning and the end. He is Truth.

Do you feel lost? Unsure who to believe? Who is telling the truth? Which way to go? The world seems intent upon utter confusion and chaos.

The answer is here, actually it’s all over the Bible, but in this proverb, in particular. According to this section of Proverbs there are two parts to gaining wisdom:

1- our effort and 2- God’s grace.

My son, if you accept my words and treasure up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding- indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:1-6

Listen and concentrate. Seek and accept. Treasure and never forget. Ask and cry out for. Then you will understand. It is a gift and a promise.

The answer to all the questions of the world- past, present, and future- is God Himself.

God doesn’t want us to live in confusion and chaos. He wants us to live in Truth with wisdom and understanding. He has shown us the way.

Seek Him first. Everything else will fall into place.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
