the land of the living

I needed this today. Although it is a beautiful Monday morning- a new day, a new week. That is a blessing alone.

Are you going through hard times today? Worried? Afraid of the future or even just afraid of tomorrow? Wondering if God will ever answer your prayer? Does He even hear you? Have you been praying the same thing over and over again to silence?

Maybe King David’s words will encourage you today, too: I will see the goodness of the Lord while I am here on earth.

If you’re having trouble seeing the goodness of the Lord today, just wait. Be strong. Take courage in His promises and wait for the Lord. He is working. He is moving. He is on your side, and He wants good for you.

Sometimes we need to be like the worried father in Mark 9 begging Jesus to help his son, “I DO believe! Help me when I don’t believe!”

I will see the goodness of the Lord this side of heaven. I DO believe this, help me when I don’t!

Sometimes we just need to say it over and over again. I do. And sometimes (often) there’s a reckoning that what is good for me is something other than what I want. Right? God is good and His way is always the best way.

I am confident that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Just wait. Be strong and take heart and wait for Lord.

Heidi xoxo 😘

  1. The AI tool on my website said my language was not inclusive to those who do not share my faith. 🤨 hmm

I will shout it from the mountain tops. God is good and He loves you and His way is the only way. You want peace and joy in your life- seek Jesus. ❤️❤️❤️

  2. Psalm 27:13 is one of my favorite verses. I have recently been mediating on Psalm 27. I especially love the phrase “land of the living” because in Heaven there is no more death. Even here on earth, Christians live, work and play among unbelievers with dead souls. But not so in Heaven. It is where we will fully see the goodness of the Lord, no matter what our lives were like on earth. The parable of the rich man and the poor man, Lazarus, (Luke 16:19-31) is an encouragement of keeping an eternal perspective <3 Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

    • Ooohhh I love this! I’ve never heard this verse referred to as heaven, but that makes sense too. The Bible is so amazing and I can learn so much every time I open it! Have a beautiful day friend. Xoxo

      • That is what is so rich about the Bible. It is layered in meaning giving the Scriptures way more depth. The commentary I’ve read on this passage from Matthew Henry says that “the land of the living” is referring to earth, Jerusalem and Heaven. Just like in Isaiah and Jeremiah’s prophecies about Christ’s first advent, there is sometimes a double meaning to the Second Advent as well. I love that. So, sometimes in the Bible the answer isn’t necessarily “this” or “that”, but “both” 🙂

      • Thanks for sharing! I love this so much. God is so good, and every time I read the bible, He reveals Himself and His heart even more. We are blessed to hold His word in our hands. xoxo
