and something the book of Psalms taught me- especially David’s songs.

Can you take a moment and read Psalm 7?
I love this psalm. David is mad, and he wants God to judge the people who are mean to him. He wants God’s mighty heavy hand of justice to rain down upon his enemies! 🌧️ 😠
Do you ever just look around at how unfair life is? At how bad it is for some people? How the innocent suffer while those in power just step on them for more power? At the injustice in the world? That’s the big picture, but even in your own life, does it feel like things just don’t work out the way you hope they will? 🤷🏻♀️
Even as believers, we feel this way.
Psalm 7
A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.
The meaning of “shiggaion” is lost in antiquity, it’s apparently here in Psalm 7 and in Habakkuk 3’s title, interesting. Hmmm.🤔
Also, who is Cush the Benjamite?
History records that the tribe of Benjamin supported Saul as king even when the Lord placed David as head of His people. Saul himself was a Benjamite. Some of these Benjamites took Absalom’s side (David’s rebellious son) in that whole terrible debacle. David knew they didn’t like him from the very beginning, and he had reason to fear them. But who knows the time or event that preceded David writing this psalm.
But what we know is that he is calling upon God to curse his enemies. ⚡️
And here’s the deal . . .
Remember that the psalms are like a prayer journal of songs, poems, prayers. And these songs of “curse my enemies” are okay. After all, they are in the Bible! God is saying it’s ok to be mad and want justice.
But take it to God. 💡
And God only. Knowing, and trusting, that He WILL handle it.
Then end your prayer like David here . . . I am so mad God, smite them all!!! (take a breath or two or three) 🥰
But, until then…
I praise the Lord because He does what’s right. I sing to Him no matter what!
Let’s do this thing called today. 💪🏼
Love and hugs my friends.
Heidi xoxo ❤️❤️❤️
I have seen this come true for decades now
Amen, my brother. Keep on putting one foot in front of the other. That’s all we can do, but what a beautiful thing to walk this road with our Savior Jesus. 🙂
I agree
I would not have made it past my thirtieth birthday without Jesus

Amen. Fear of the Lord is a good thing. He is equal parts my good, good Father and also an almighty creator God who will someday smite all evil that has ever existed. Terrifying and wonderful to think about. Right?
