Encouragement for today.

Tuesdays are nothing special, unless you love tacos. 🌮 Do you?
It’s not Monday, it’s not halfway to the weekend. 🤷🏻♀️
Tuesday is just a regular day, and we are just regular people doing regular things. Right?
Maybe these regular days are the best days for routine. What’s on your list today?
Laundry. Exercise. Yard work. Meetings. Emails. Phone calls. Tacos? 🌮
I’m looking for Jesus today. So, I started in the book of Matthew with Chapter 1. Can I tell you something amazing that I learned?
You know King David, that warrior-shepherd-sinner-beloved king of Israel?
His father was Jesse. I can’t find his mother’s name, but I’m sure she was special. His grandfather was Obed and another wonderful unnamed grandmother. His great-grandparents were Boaz and Ruth. Ruth was a Moabite, not often friends of the Israelite people. David’s great-great-grandparents were a man named Salmon and the redeemed prostitute Rahab.

Seriously! Just regular old people- all of them were sinners, just some had their sins written down in the Bible! Ugh, that would be terrible.
Jesus was born fourteen x 2 generations later (the Jews count 14 gens to the Babylonian exile and 14 from there to Jesus).
But my thought for today is this: there are many regular boring people in the line of King David and to Jesus. Rahab was redeemed and she married a regular Jewish man, Salmon. Ruth’s life was saved by another regular Jewish farmer named Boaz.
Regular old people doing regular old things on regular old Tuesdays.
Yet all these people are a part of God’s plan. All of these people were loved and watched over by a sovereign God who knew the plan and worked it all out, and still loved each of them and cared for each step of their days.
Even the Tuesdays.
Today, if you’re bored with the regular old day or wonder what the heck you’re even doing, know that today matters to God because YOU matter to God.
Always.
Heidi xoxo 🌮
