The path of the righteous

Proverbs 4:18

Youversion bible app proverbs 4:18 sunrise

The way of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine.
Proverbs 4:18 The Message

This proverb is so encouraging to me. Just keep on walking. Put one foot in front of the other and trust that God will make clear the path ahead.

Sometimes as a believer we just walk one way and pray that we are headed in the right direction. But other times, the path ahead isn’t clear, and we think okay God let me know if this is the wrong way, and we kind of tip toe along carefully.

The path of right-living people (MSG), the just (NKJV), the righteous (NIV), the good person (ICB) is like when the sun rises and lights the way again. We walk the way we believe God’s Word and Holy Spirit are sending us and trust that He will light the way ahead, like the new day’s sun.

Like the sun rising, getting brighter and brighter, the path ahead becomes clearer until it is completely light as like the day.

The Message says, the longer a righteous person lives, the brighter they shine. Oh, I hope and pray this is true. That my life- our lives- will be a testament of love and faithfulness. A life well lived, that points to God and to Him gives all the glory.

VERSUS

But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over.
Proverbs 4:19 NLT

But the road of wrongdoing gets darker and darker- travelers can't see a thing; they fall flat on their faces.

Today, my friend, are you unsure what direction to take? What path to choose? Does it seem dark ahead? Are you walking a certain road and just feel very unsure if it’s right?

Here is the answer.

Seek to know Jesus first, and He will make the rest clear.

Jesus is the rising the sun. He is the light of day. He will light the path ahead.

And- even better- He will walk with you.
